Performance Upgrade of South Port Container Terminal in Port Sudan
Challenge
Sudan's Ministry of Transport asked HPC to support improving SPCT’s performance in Port Sudan. The terminal suffered from long waiting times for ships and limitations from poor equipment maintenance. In the first phase of this new contract with the Sea Ports Corporation of Sudan (SPC), HPC concentrated on improving equipment maintenance, immediate HSSE measures, and training requirements. At the same time, HPC worked on enhancing operations and business processes.
Tasks Performed
- Emergency engagement to ensure minimum required equipment availability for all ship calls
- Detailed review and implementation support for a standardised equipment maintenance process
- Definition of clear business processes and responsibilities for SPCT operations
- HSSE gaps identification, process planning and training
- Identification of training and education requirements
- Training course and education program preparation, training and conduct
Benefit
HPC supported SPC in achieving its goals and boosting the terminal's performance to an internationally comparable level. Crane inspections were completed, and necessary equipment repairs were prepared.
