Modelling of Business Processes (BPM) and Future Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for Container Terminal Bilbao

Modelling of Business Processes (BPM) and Future Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for Container Terminal Bilbao

Challenge

CSP (previously Noatum Container Terminal Bilbao) decided to migrate to a new Terminal Operating System (TOS) for both container terminals in Valencia and Bilbao. After the successful completion of the BPM & SOP project for Valencia, HPC modelled the current (“As-Is”) and future (“To-Be”) Business Processes in BPMN 2.0 on level 2 plus the future SOP for Bilbao.

Tasks Performed

  • Stakeholder interviews and workshops with management and key users
  • Elaborated “As-Is” landscapes for business processes and the IT system with consecutive business process modelling
  • Identified operational bottlenecks and improvement potentials aligned with CSP’s strategy and vision
  • Decision-making workshops with the management team and set-up of “To-Be” landscapes for business processes and IT systems with consecutive “To-Be” business process modelling
  • Elaborated the SOPs for the “To-Be” process landscape

Benefit

HPC helped CSP’s management to realistically estimate the efforts required and to understand the need for change management on the way to a successful TOS implementation.
