<p>In light of an investment opportunity on the Adriatic
                      Sea, HHLA International asked HPC to perform technical due diligence for a 
                     multi-purpose terminal in Trieste, Italy. Beyond analysing existing assets a
                     nd operations, a focus was also set on further development options and their
                      optimum operations. In that respect, a smart phasing plan was prepared, all
                     owing a stepwise approach to development. Further to the in-depth assessment
                      of the actual terminal’s operations, equipment, IT, safety, security, and
                      environmental aspects, the intermodal connection to the hinterland was vita
                     l for expected growth. All relevant findings were used as inputs for the fin
                     ancial analysis and assessment of feasibility.</p>

<p>The overall objective of the assignment was to el

                     sed a comprehensive traffic forecast. It further provided assessments of cur
                     rent port operations including customs procedures, hinterland traffic and po
                     rt connectivity of all deployed port equipment and installations, as well as
                      of existing and planned maritime and landside infrastructure. HPC developed
                      short-term improvement measures and elaborated a multi-phase port developme
                     nt framework. This implied considering several expansion scenarios on the ba
                     sis of site investigations at the Karnaphuli River as well as at the shore o
                     f the Bengal Bay.</p>

<p>CSX Intermodal Terminals Inc. is a subsidiary of 
                     CSX Transportation, the third biggest freight railway undertaking in the USA
                     . The company operates about 40 terminals in the eastern part of the United 
                     States; one of these is located in Columbus, Ohio. In the light of the proje
                     cted volume increase and the fact that the terminal would not be able to cov
                     er this with the existing layout, HPC prepared a development plan for the ab
                     ove mentioned terminal. Under this development plan, existing operations and
                      future plans were analysed to set the right framework for the development o
