AI Strategy Development and Technology Integration

Challenge

To strengthen its position as a data-driven and innovation-focused terminal operator, the client launched a strategic AI initiative across its European terminal network. Through workshops, stakeholder interviews, and technology assessments, more than 150 AI use cases were identified, targeting operational efficiency, business value creation, and new digital revenue opportunities.

The initiative revealed the need for a group-wide AI and Business Intelligence (AI/BI) hub to govern and scale future AI applications. In parallel, a modern data lakehouse architecture was designed to complement the existing data warehouse environment, creating the foundation for advanced analytics, AI-driven services, and data monetisation opportunities.

To support long-term implementation, potential funding opportunities for AI and innovation projects were assessed at regional, national, and European levels.

Tasks Performed

• Conducted strategic AI consulting and facilitated the identification and prioritisation of more than 150 AI use cases
• Designed governance concepts for establishing a group-wide AI/BI hub
• Developed the conceptual architecture for a data lakehouse integrated with the existing data warehouse ecosystem
• Assessed regional, national, and EU funding opportunities to support future AI and innovation initiatives
