Your Responsibilities

  • Elaboration of environmental impact assessments based on the respective national legal basis
  • Establishment of environmental due diligence: assessment of (port) facilities according to environmental aspects, review of compliance with relevant environmental laws, determination of measures that go above and beyond legal requirements (ISO norms)
  • Preparation of environmental protection and nature conservation policy opinions for infrastructure measures
  • Development of environmental protection and energy-saving concepts
  • Elaboration of carbon footprint studies and sustainability concepts such as Green Port Action Plans
  • Set-up, monitoring and maintenance of environmental management systems in accordance with ISO 14001
  • Development and conduction of training courses
  • Evaluation of potential environmental impacts through sampling and analysis, as well as interpretation of analysis results
  • Interface environmental, sustainability, energy efficiency and innovative technology aspects
  • Bringing in (international) funding opportunities
  • Expansion of and addition to the range of products and services according to (future) market requirements

Your Profile

  • A university degree with an environmental focus or an equivalent qualification
  • General understanding of ecological interrelations and knowledge of potential effects of planned project on protected resources (water, soil, air, plants, animals, etc.)
  • Familiarity of the International Maritime Organisation conventions
  • Familiarity with the environmental impacts of shipping and handling of (environmentally harmful) goods as well as oil spill control methods and resources
  • Technical understanding of the measurement, assessment and improvement of energy efficiency, including with the help of innovative technologies
  • Experience in project work or consultancy roles
  • Experience in handling economic-ecological project conflicts
  • Willingness to travel internationally
  • Be confident in the use of Microsoft Office

Excellent English skills and confidence using standard software are essential; other foreign language skills are advantageous. Given the structure of our company and our proximity to our clients, you must enjoy process-oriented thinking and be able to work independently.
